This is one of the most important
parts of your website design! Time to test out what you learned in school.
Some call it stealing or plagiarizing.
Looking at your competitors sites is neither. There is nothing wrong with
getting ideas. There is a difference between getting ideas and stealing. Just
be sure, that you not copying what they do.
Flashy sites.... yeah they look
great. Who said they were the best? Remember, the best sites are the simple
and quickly loading sites. I time my sites on how fast they load.
Don't over do your research. Get
some basic ideas of what else is available. If information is too readily available
then maybe you should design a different site. Are you trying to charge
money? Is the same information available for free?
I don't think you should need much
help on researching, but get some ideas and put your ideas to work. If you
gather too much information, you will find yourself getting stuck. Start small
and think big later.
Oh yeah, let the bookmark feature
be your friends.
